About the artist
My paintings and drawings, intimate in scale, are a reflection of my quiet, contemplative existence. Often bathed in the light of the ‘magic hour’, my subjects are imbued with a sense of mystery, mysticism, memory and poetry under thoughtful, careful observation. Surrounded by beauty, my intent is to capture the lucid stillness of natural light over skin, stones, fruit, clouds — each one a unique, rapturous, wordless meditation on form, light and color, revealing the unseen world through the seen world. My work is informed by my personal spiritual practices, the Old and Modern Masters, earth, water, sky, phases of the moon, the music and poetry of singer-songwriters, the human figure, silence, my hands. I am leading myself to a secret dream that I have had over and over again.

About the artist
Evelyn Patricia Terry is a full time professional visual artist, presenter, writer and art collector based in Milwaukee. She works across many media: printmaking, drawing, painting, installation, and public art. During her long career, she has garnered awards, fellowships, grants, and commendations for community work with students and other artists. Concentrating on printmaking, she earned both a BFA and an MS in Visual Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). She earned an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago after Ruth Milofsky, a UWM arts education professor and mentor, set up a fund to give her a deadline to go back to school so she might be better prepared as an artist.

About the artist
Roman Verostko, born 1929, maintains an experimental studio in Minneapolis where he has developed original algorithmic procedures for creating his art. A year after graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh (1949) he entered monastic life at St Vincent Archabbey where he studied philosophy & theology, was ordained a priest, and followed post graduate studies in New York & Paris. He taught at St. Vincent College and served as Staff Editor for Art & Architecture for the first edition of the New Catholic Encyclopedia (McGraw Hill, 1967).
He departed from monastic life in 1968, married Alice Wagstaff, and joined the humanities faculty at the Minneapolis School of Art now known as the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. Aware of the awesome power of algorithmic procedure he began experimenting with code and exhibited his first coded art program, the Magic Hand of Chance in 1982. In 1987 he modified his software with interactive routines to drive paint brushes mounted on a pen plotter drawing arm.

About the artist
Born in Washington Heights in 1935, Wally Reinhardt only began making art seriously at age 49. His fascination with Ovid’s monumental fifteen books of poetry, however, was ignited during the previous decade. While living in Rome in the 1970s with his late partner Robert Keyser, a Philadelphia-based painter who also taught at Temple University Rome, Reinhardt consistently encountered the city’s artistic interpretations of Ovid’s work. A patron of opera and ballet as well as an admirer of Renaissance and Baroque artists like Antonio del Pollaiuolo, Luca della Robbia, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Reinhardt began studying Ovidian-inspired artworks. Having never had formal art training, the artist acknowledges that the museums and the city of Rome itself were marvelous teachers.

Kat Chamberlin
About the artist
Born in the Netherlands and raised in Turkey, Kat Chamberlin is a Brooklyn-based multi-disciplinary artist. Her works have been exhibited across the U.S. and internationally, and featured in exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, The Chicago Cultural Center, Barbara and Steven Grossman Gallery in Boston and Gana Art in New York City. Kat completed her Masters in Fine Art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is the recipient of a Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, the Toby Devan Lewis Award and the William Dole Award.

About the artist
Elise Nicol is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has exhibited at Bucknell University (Lewisburg, PA), The Print Center (Philadelphia), Buddy Holly Fine Art Center (Lubbock, TX), Ithaca College (Ithaca, NY), Center for Maine Contemporary Art (Rockport), Springfield Art Museum (Springfield, MO), Janet Turner Print Museum at California State University (Chico), and Soho Photo (New York, NY), among other venues. Her work is in the collections of The Library of Congress, Boise Art Museum, Mesa Arts Center, Photomedia Center, Graphic Chemical and Ink Company, and more. Most recently, she is the recipient of an Anderson Ranch Arts Center Scholarship and a Vermont Studio Center Artist Residency.

About the artist
"I make number and text based, color oriented abstract paintings and drawings.
The paintings are created by repeating and layering the words or numbers found in the title of the piece. I use my own handwriting, fragment each letter or number and assign colors to every unit. Repeated over and over, the words become purposefully illegible, serendipitous rhythms of lines and colors in transition. I am interested in the “flow” the marks make, rather than any hint at legibility."
I consider the Stroke Studies (2014 – present) to be joyful research and development. Although these paintings began as a possible means to add more “hand” to the grounds of my text-based paintings, they have developed into an ongoing inquiry and stand on their own as finished works.

About the artist
Jody Williams publishes artist’s books under the name Flying Paper Press. She has taught workshops and presented lectures at museums and colleges across the United States and in Europe. Her work is in the collections of the Walker Art Center, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Minnesota Historical Society, and numerous other museums, universities, and libraries. Honors include Jerome Foundation fellowships, grants and awards from the Minnesota Craft Council, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. In 2008, Jody Williams received the inaugural Minnesota Book Artist Award from the Friends of the St. Paul Public Library, and she was awarded Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grants in 2013 and 2016..

About the artist
The depiction of land has often been used as a means of celebrating or critiquing culture. The use of pastoral views, banal architecture and everyday trash problematize the traditional definitions of a natural landscape. Through the process of transforming and miniaturizing materials found in the land, objects, in their new context, are no longer discernible as natural or man-made. The juxtaposition of representational modes and materials create a hybrid space where the romanticized and actual intermingle. Contrasts between the flat, painted vistas and artifacts from the land expose the illusion of representation and subsequently confuse the pictorial space, calling into question the authenticity of the objects. The forms fracture the pictorial space, at times, inhabiting the frames, robbing them of their ability to define a single view and inviting a phenomenological exploration by the viewer.characteristic of identity.
